April 1998 - The Football League give the new North Stand their seal of approval following £700,000 worth of redevelopment. The new stand increases the Shay's capacity by 3,500 enabling Halifax Town to be promoted from the Football Conference.
April 1998 - The Halifax Blue Sox kick off their Shay career in style with a 30:6 win over local rivals Huddersfield Town.
October 1998 - The Shay once again becomes a four-sided stadium following the opening of the South Stand.
June 1999 - Capacity for the stadium is increased from 6,300 to 9,939 thanks to the completion of several minor works.
July 1999 - 'Phase Three' plans for the stadium are released, which include replacing the family stand with a new, partly seated stand to cost approximately £1,000,000.
August 1999 - It is announced that the Football Trust are set to award a £2.2 million grant so that phase three of the redevelopment can be realised. Work could start in January with both the north and south stands being covered.
October 2000 - After a short delay, the stadium's new floodlights are up and working.
January 2001 - Work on the new east stand continues, albeit slowly. The roof structures are now up but internally the stand is still a shell.
July 2001 - All signs of work on the east stand have now disappeared. Calderdale Council also restrict the stadium's capacity to 6,000 due to access issues (amongst other things).
