Development
Halifax Town FC and Halifax RLFC decided in 1998 to make a joint effort to redevelop the Shay Stadium into a ground that would do both clubs proud. Following the completion of a new North Stand thanks to investment from both clubs, there was celebration when the Football Trust awarded a £2.2 million grant so that the development could be extended.
Unfortunately as is evidenced by the bare steel framework of the as yet uncompleted east stand, the project hit several problems during 2000 and 2001, and all work ceased.
The Shay Stadium Trust is intent on finishing the redevelopment of the Shay, particularly the east stand, and hopes to see work recommence as soon as possible.
